In my opinion, I would say that teaching is a mix of both art and science. By definition, according to the Oxford Dictionary, art is “the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination.” An example of teaching being an art would be when teachers take time to make creative lesson plans to help the students learn in different ways.
On the other hand, the definition of science, according to the Oxford Dictionary, is “a systematically organized body of knowledge on a particular subject.” As a teacher, it is important to observe how each student in your class learns and make sure that the lessons will benefit every child, which is where the science of teaching comes in.
Therefore, I believe that teaching is a mix of both art and science. A teacher can use their imagination and be creative with lessons and ways to help the students learn, but also have to be aware of which lessons are the most effective for each group of students they have.
